Auxin Analysis in Platymiscium Dimorphandrum

"Laboratory"

This research project focuses on the analysis of auxins in the species Platymiscium dimorphandrum, known for being the source of the marimba keyboard. It is a collaboration between the "Dr. Faustino Miranda" Botanical Garden and the Plant Propagation Laboratory of the Unit of Biology, Technology, and Prototypes (UBIPRO).

Through this project, we aim to better understand the properties and characteristics of this plant species, as well as its potential application in the manufacturing of musical instruments. Through analysis and experimentation techniques, we hope to obtain valuable data that contributes to scientific knowledge and the development of new technologies in the musical and botanical fields.

Proyecto Nandayapa

"Preserving the Musical Heritage of Chiapa de Corzo"

Proyecto Nandayapa (Nandayapa Project) emerged in 2014 in response to the need to explore and preserve the musical legacy of the "Nandayapa" family, whose surname is linked to one of the extinct native languages of Chiapa de Corzo. In addition to this, the family has produced prominent musicians and composers such as Rene Ruiz Nandayapa and Ataulfo Nandayapa.

With the aim of rescuing this valuable cultural heritage, the project has focused on digitizing the family archive, which houses a large number of traditional and regional works that are difficult to access. The scores are digitized, performed on marimba, and recorded in formats accessible to new devices, ensuring that these musical pieces endure and are accessible to future generations.
